Our story

A Biddeford shop built on straight answers

Platinum Pawn and Jewelry opened its doors in 2016 with a simple idea: a pawn shop can be a professional, welcoming place to do business.

Owner Cory Poulin grew up around Southern Maine and opened Platinum Pawn and Jewelry in Biddeford in 2016. He'd seen how uncomfortable selling a valuable item could feel — vague numbers, rushed conversations, the sense that you were supposed to feel embarrassed for walking in.

He built the shop as the opposite of that. Clean cases, real appraisal tools, and a habit of walking every customer through the math. Gold gets tested and weighed in front of you. Diamonds get inspected. Consoles get powered on and checked. Whatever the number turns out to be, you'll know how we got there.

Nearly a decade later, Platinum Pawn and Jewelry is a fixture in the Biddeford community — serving Saco, Arundel, Kennebunk, Old Orchard Beach and the rest of Southern Maine. Customers who sold a chain in 2017 come back to buy an engagement ring in 2026. That's the whole business model.
